Rebecca Cheung Collections

Stamp collection
I have been collecting stamps since my childhood. Stamps come from different countries around the world. Each of them bear a country name and an object, an event or a person associated with that country. It is a very interesting way to learn geography. It may be why I like geography, or it may the other way around - because I like geography, that's why I like to collect stamps, or it may be both.
I collect mint stamps, first day covers and other stamp-related memorabilia of Canada and Hong Kong. Of course, I collect stamps from other countries. Many friends and relatives keep used stamps for me and some of them buy stamps while they travel. I also buy stamps when I travel to other countries. They are good souvenirs.

Coin and paper money collection
Of course, I collect money! When I travel, I keep the coins and bank notes from change as a souvenir. Like my other collections, my relatives and friends also keep some for me. I also collect old and commemorative coins and bank notes. However, I'm not rich enough to collect gold coin.

Ticket collection

Other than stamps, I also collect used tickets, such as bus tickets, subway tickets and train tickets, and tickets issued in special occasions. Again, the collection has been contributed by many friends and relatives.

Transportation collection
Also known as junk collection. It includes anything such as a bus stop, a destination blind, a no-parking sign, Métro station map, license plates... you name it. Some are bought from stores, EBay. Others are picked up in the streets and contributions from friends. If you have any junk, do not discard it. It may be a treasure for me.

The collection is named after Rebecca Cheung, my dearest aunt, who died of cancer in the year two thousand and two. She regularly bought me stamps, tickets, coins and other collectibles. Without her, I probably would not have developed these hobbies.

Special stamps
The Penny Black was the first adhesive postage stamp, introduced on May 6, 1840. The system was devised by an Englishman, Sir Rowland Hill. The stamp featured a portrait of Queen Victoria. In recognition of this historic first, the Universal Postal Union has granted Great Britain the distinction of being the only country allowed to omit its name on stamps - the portrait of the reigning monarch is sufficient.
The Threepenny Beaver was Canada's first postage stamp, issued on April 23, 1851. It was designed by Sir Sandford Fleming. Long a Canadian symbol, the industrious beaver represented the aspirations of a dynamic people in a young country, and the beaver fur trade originally led to the exploration of Canada's interior.
The famous Chalon portrait of Queen Victoria on The Twelvepenny Black, considered one of Canada's rarest stamps.
The famous Bluenose, considered by many as one of Canada's most beautiful stamps.
