History of computing
The first mechanical computer was invented by Charles Babbage in the
mid-1800s.
In 1971, Intel Corporation introduced the first microprocessor.
In the 1950s, IBM saw a market for six computers in the entire world.
In the 1960s, Douglas Engelbart invented the mouse, with the original name
"X-Y position indicator for a display system".
The first modern graphical user interface (GUI) and mouse were engineered at
a Xerox research centre in the 1970s.
Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded Apple Computer Company in late 1970s.
Microsoft was founded in the mid 1970s by
Bill Gates and Paul Allen.
Tim Paterson invented disk operating system (DOS).
Marc Andreeson created Mosaic in 1994, today known as Netscape Navigator.
